This method may be used to assess the ability of a lubricant to prevent tooth surface distress and noise in a hypoid automotive axle under conditions of continuous high-speed operation.
It is principally intended for use by a complete vehicle on a suitable high-speed track, but it may also be used for the complete vehicle on a suitable chassis dynamometer, or by the axle from the vehicle on a universal laboratory rig.
