The M111 Fuel Economy test was designed in 1992 by CEC project group IL-25 and is being continuously developed in CEC project group PL-054 through various modifications.
The test engine is a Mercedes-Benz M111 E20 four-cylinder, four stroke 2.0 litre gasoline injection engine with four-valve cylinder head and an electronically controlled ignition and fuel-injection system.
