This method is intended to measure the cut-off wavelength of single-mode fiber by determining the wavelength at which the fiber transmission abruptly changes [1]. The value is affected by the fiber length and bend conditions. These conditions are specified in this test procedure for three types of cut-off wavelength. Fiber cut-off wavelength, lambda cc Cable cut-off wavelength, lambda cc Jumper cable cut-off wavelength, lambda cj For any cut-off type, two measurement methods are allowed. For both methods, the transmitted power through the specimen is compared to a reference power and is represented in a curve as a wavelength-varying attenuation that is expressed in decibels (dB). The methods differ according to how the reference power measurement is performed and are named as follows: Method A - Bend-reference technique
