EIA/TIA-658:1996 (R2002)

INTRODUCTION General Description This standard defines procedures on the L Interface for support of circuit-mode and packet-mode data transmission on TIA/EIA/IS-95 and ANSI J-STD-008 based wideband spread spectrum systems. This standard references many of the procedures defined in TIA/EIA/IS-99 in support of async and fax circuit-mode data services and in TIA/EIA/IS-657 in support of packet-mode data services. This standard specifies generic procedures unique to the L interface and does not describe all the internal element procedures needed to completely specify a data service. Service-specific documents will include those additional procedures.
