This Standard specifies requirements for telecommunications cabling within a commercial building and between commercial buildings in a campus environment. It defines terms, specifies cabling topology, lists cabling requirements, establishes cabling distances, sets telecommunications outlet/connector configurations and provides additional useful information. Telecommunications cabling specified by this Standard is intended to support a wide range of commercial building sites and applications (e.g., voice, data, text, video, and image). Typically, this range includes sites with a geographical extent from 3000 m2 (approximately 10 000 ft2), up to 1 000 000 m2 (approximately 10 000 000 ft2) of office space, and with a population of up to 50 000 individual users.
