The standard defines test procedures and the design requirements for categories of acoustic insulation for pipes, valves and flanges with the aim of cost-effectively reducing the noise emitted by these items. The standard also describes a method of establishing the acoustic performance of different types of acoustic insulation. This technical standard covers a specific field of application and is to consider as tool for experts dealing with the design of pipe-systems on the one hand side and experts dealing with environmental protection from acoustical point of view in general on the other hand side. This standard is based upon the translation of ISO 15665:2003-06 and takes the Correction 1, published as ISO 15665 Technical Corrigendum 1:2004-03 in addition into account. The user finds information about the need of further corrections given by means of national footnotes.
