This standard encompasses the design and performance requirements for flood abatement equipment for use in controlling riverine or rainfall related flood conditions. Flood abatement equipment shall be FM Approved for specific flood protection applications which are designated and categorized by: Function (permanent, contingent, and emergency) Operation (automatic and manual) The intended use of protection (i.e., perimeter and opening barriers, flood abatement pumps and backwater valves)
