This Recommendation specifies instrumentation that is used to generate and measure jitter and wander in digital systems based on the SDH. Measurement requirements for both SDH line interfaces and SDH tributary interfaces operating at PDH bit rates are addressed in this Recommendation. The requirements for the characteristics of the jitter and wander measuring equipment that are specified in this Recommendation must be adhered to in order to ensure consistency of results between equipment produced by different manufacturers.
