Applies to the qualification testing of welders to establish their competency in manual, semi-automatic or automatic metal-arc welding of weldable steels. Tests are specified for welding of plate and/or tubing, and test certificates may have a validity of 1, 2 or 3 years. Requirements for test authorities and their staff are specified.
