1. ScopeThis standard conforms to and enhances the John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) implementation of the criteria for NASA Windows New Technology (NT) Agency Domain Strategy Document, George C. Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), NAS8-60000 Revision 2, dated June 10, 1996.
1.1 Intent
It is the intent that KSC organizations migrate existing names covered by this standard to this new standard as rapidly as feasible.
1.2 Composition of Names
To ensure uniqueness and a consistency of logic in the composition of names without imposing rigid constraints, a control board shall be established at the KSC Chief Information Office (CIO) level to review and approve all proposed naming sets. This board shall maintain a master index of all names previously assigned for use at KSC. For all names, only A to Z, a to z, and 0 to 9 characters shall be used. Upper and lower case may be mixed to increase readability.
