This John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC) Standard (SSTD) provides for a qualified American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) weld procedure for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) of austenitic stainless steel pipe or plate from 0.063-inch to 1.500-inch wall thickness using argon, helium, or nitrogen as a backing gas.
