This ETSI Technical Report (ETR) gives background information on the p erformance of the GSM half rate speech codec. Experimental results fro m the characterization and verification tests carried out during the s election process by the Traffic CHannel Half rate Speech (TCH-HS) expe rt group are reported to give a more detailed picture of the behaviour of the GSM half rate speech codec under different conditions of opera tion.
