Correct valve installation into aluminum alloy cylinders is essential to ensure a proper fit, performance, and leak-tight seal. Failure to perform this installation properly can result in the loss of the cylinder contents and/or the valve ejection from the cylinder, which can lead to damage to property, serious personal injury, and/or death.
CGA V-11 provides recommended guidelines for developing procedures for valve installation into high pressure aluminum alloy cylinders for thread designs developed in the United States. For guidance on devalving cylinders, see CGA P-38.
