This slide presentation outlines a community outreach program developed for the new Twin Oaks Valley Water Treatment Plant construction project, as part of the San Diego County Water Authority. Outreach objectives included:get community involved beforedesigning the plant;establish relationships with communityresidents;work with community to identify andresolve concerns; and, let community help shape project. Project parameters included:design/build/operate required;plant size and phase constructiondependent on desalination schedule;required plant elements included lighting, security, and24-hour operation;must stay within budget; and,must begin producing water by April 2008. Issues and concerns of the project were divided into threecategories:facility design;facility construction; and,plant operation. The Water Authority's outreach approach, success tips, and lessons learned are all outlined.
