Full Description

This standard sets forthminimally accepted practices for occupationalrespirator use; provides informationand guidance on the proper selection, useand maintenance of respirators andcontains requirements for establishing,implementing and evaluating respiratorprograms. The standard covers the use ofrespirators to protect persons against theinhalation of harmful air contaminants andagainst oxygen-deficient atmospheres in theworkplace. The following are not covered bythis standard:

a) underwater breathing devices;
b) aircraft oxygen systems;
c) supplied-air suits;
d) use of respirators under military combatconditions, and
e) medical inhalators and resuscitators.
