This chapter discusses variables of interest, defines commonly used statistical terminology, and provides a basic explanation of three statistical methods used to expand sample survey demands to target populations. It also considers data quality issues and specialized statistical techniques applicable to Load Research such as regression, averaging demands across time, domain analysis, and estimating end-use load shapes. Finally, evaluating and reporting results are briefly discussed.
